Closet Organizer Ideas and Tips

Dedicated Storage Space

I’m sure we’ve all had that moment as a child where in order to “clean-up”, we just threw everything into a closet or a drawer. You don’t need to make this mistake as an adult, however. This is where the closet organizer comes in. From the smallest of closets, all the way to a walk-in closet, you want this to be a well-designed, well-organized system. You’ll never have to guess where things are again. Never feel that frustration of something being in the very last place that you look, you’ll know exactly where you look and you’ll know it immediately

Stay Organized

If you need to take your space management one step further, consider a closet organizer. With a simple series of shelves, cupboards and rails, you can transform even the messiest of closets in to an organizational masterpiece. All those days that you found yourself bewildered and confused that a single article of clothing, or a single item had gone missing. Those days will be gone with a closet organizer.

One of the best bonuses about having a beautiful, well organized closet with an organizer is the fact that you will get to enjoy the tranquility of mind that comes with having no clutter. You will finally have a place for everything, with everything in its place.

Free Up Space

You’ll be surprised at just how much space you will free up with a well organized closet. With a closet organizer especially, you’ll go from feeling as if you couldn’t get enough space, to not understanding how you managed to pack away so much, so easily. Seasonal clothing that you couldn’t find any space for will suddenly have a home where they will be nice and safe to wait for when they are needed next year. For this reason alone, a closet-organizer is more than worth the money that it will cost, the kind of life transformation that you only come to appreciate once you’ve owned one.

Suit Your Needs

Depending on what your needs are for your closet, you’ll be able to look at and purchase a variety of different organizer styles. You’ll have the options of optimizing for visual appearance, for total storage capacity or for ease of use. This modular approach to organization means that will not matter where you are having trouble finding space, you will be able to pick out the perfect organizer for you. Not only that, but organizers come in a variety of different styles, so you’ll be able to pick and choose the right look to match your closet.

Best Storage Cabinets Ideas

We spend a lot of time thinking and talking about cabinets over here at Cabinets & Closet Depot because we know our customers depend on our expertise.  Many customers find relief from the stress of decision-making while browsing our massive showroom, with experts are on-hand to answer any questions. We’re truly passionate about what we do, and would love to help guide you through the process of making a significant investment in your home.  Please come in and see us anytime — we could talk cabinets for hours.

If talking cabinets for hours sounds like a special kind of torture, well, we don’t take that personally! We want the experience to be as easy and painless as possible. Read on to master the nitty-gritty of storage cabinets before you even set foot in our showroom.  Knowing what you’re looking at helps you find what you’re looking for.

There are three questions we ask all our customers when they are looking for a storage cabinet:

Industrial or Residential?

Where is this cabinet going to live? The design and material for a gardening shed might be different from a garage unit. Suppose you’re looking to use storage cabinets to build yourself a pantry. In that case, you probably don’t want wire and metal shelves in your kitchen (not that there’s anything wrong with that!).  Industrial storage cabinets tend to be made of metal, are designed for function, and are often rated for storage of more substantial items.

Stock, Semi-Custom, or Custom?

Stock cabinets are the most cost-effective choice. At some retailers, you might find shoddy or cheap products to push you towards more expensive, semi-custom or custom options. Not at Cabinet & Closet Depot! We simply don’t work with sub-standard suppliers, so if we’re selling it, we stand by its quality. Stock cabinets are ordered from the catalog, exactly as-is.

Semi-custom could also be called customizable. If you’ve got your heart set on a particular finish, or already have your storage cabinet hardware picked out, semi-custom might be the way to go.

Custom is exactly what it sounds like — tailor-made storage solutions to fit the needs of your household. Our experts can help combine the three different types of storage cabinets to create the perfect pantry, mudroom organizer, or knick-knack display.

Base, Tall, or Wall?

Base cabinets are what go underneath your counter. If you’re looking for a workspace in your garage with storage beneath it, you’re looking for base cabinets. Base cabinets also make up storage islands.

Wall cabinets are also called ‘uppers.’ They can be installed at a variety of different heights and are called ‘wall’ cabinets because they are mounted directly to, well, the wall. (Base cabinets are installed on the floor.)

Tall cabinets are also called pantry cabinets, or utility cabinets. These behemoths measure between 84-96 inches per unit. They’re a great choice when you’re not looking to add additional workspace to your home, but need more storage room.

Of course, Base, Tall, and Wall cabinets can be combined to create the most effective and aesthetically pleasing storage cabinet solution for any space. We keep our enormous showroom fully stocked, so you’ll have lots of options to choose from if you come in and visit us.  Our seasoned experts can help guide you through this difficult yet exciting process.

Tips for Choosing the Perfect Cabinets

Streamlining Your Kitchen
The kitchen is one of the places in your home that you’ll be spending the most time. You cook, you clean, you converse and socialize with friends and family. Especially in the kitchen, you’ll want to be aiming for not only a clean, fresh look that makes you feel invigorated, you want to have cabinets that are functional, handy and new. The last thing you want in the kitchen is to have too little storage space, trying to deal with cluttered cabinets and overfull shelves. It’ll drain all the fun out of what should be one of the most beloved places in the home.

Accessorizing
When you are considering the shape and style of your kitchen cabinets, you’ll have to remember to keep in mind where all of your appliances will go. All of the various fixings and devices that will go into making your kitchen a kitchen. With a specially designed set of kitchen cabinets, based around your specific needs, you’ll be getting a workspace that will be tailored to your needs. Not only will you have far more storage space because of your new cabinets, you will quite possibly open up space due to the superior design.

Only the Best Materials
Choose from a selection of possible materials for your cabinets, depending on the style and the feel of your dream bathroom. Choosing the right color and feel of the material will be incredibly important when deciding the overall vibe of the kitchen, due to the fact that the cabinets will take up so much of the space in the kitchen. Your cabinets will need to be made of strong, sturdy materials that will be able to withstand abuse and the cabinet doors will be applied with a beautiful finish.

Kitchen Worktops
The final piece to the puzzle of your dream kitchen design, the choice of worktop should ideally be the cherry on top of an already perfect design. You’ll have a variety of choice here from laminate worktops to wooden ones. The worktop you choose will need to be a point of consideration, as it is in a kitchen it will likely see a lot of wear and tear. Wooden worktops in particular, for example, will far easier absorb spilled liquids and suffer damage from the various tools in the kitchen. Almost equally as importantly, the worktops should match the style of the cabinets, for a complete new kitchen look.

Three Important Things About Kitchen Cabinets

By the time you make the decision to replace your kitchen cabinets, you’ve already thought about them a lot. We spend a lot of time in our kitchens. In larger households, the kitchen is often the central hub where family members cross paths. And, if you think about it, we probably interact with our kitchen cabinets more than any other storage solution in our homes. Every time you need a mug for coffee or a glass for water, the muffin tins or the cheese grater, you’re interacting with your kitchen cabinets. If you’re ready to replace them, one of three things is probably true:

    • Your kitchen cabinets no longer function as intended.

Maybe there are doors that don’t close. Perhaps a shelf or two has warped or is no longer attached. Your kitchen should be a place of ease, where all the tools to nourish yourself and your family are easily accessible. When the bottom of a drawer is sagging and making it difficult to store things properly, ‘ease’ is probably not the first word that is coming to your mind. (Or the first word on your lips!) Perhaps your cabinets have become misaligned. At our free in-home consultation, we can diagnose the problem, and we can follow up with cabinet solutions that will nurse your ailing kitchen back to health.

    • You simply cannot stand to look at them anymore.

Maybe you thought you could live with the wooden panel carpentry in your new home, but since moving in it’s been grating at your nerves. Or maybe you’ve been lucky enough to own your home for many years, and it’s simply time for a change. It’s an inexplicable but observable phenomenon — sometimes, new cabinetry symbolizes more than just a place to put your canned corn. It’s a statement about what season of your life you are currently in. Our gigantic showroom is sure to have something that sparks your interest and reflects your current taste. Once you have made your material selections, it’s time to schedule the installation date!

    • You’re selling the house.

Your realtor has suggested it is in your best interest to replace your kitchen cabinets before listing your house for sale. So now you get to buy cabinets and deal with an installation…so that someone else can enjoy them. Yes, you’ll almost certainly get more value for your home, and yes, if the realtor thinks it’s necessary than it probably is. Well, if it can’t be fun, at least it can be easy. At Cabinet and Closet Depot we take pride and pleasure in providing you with old-style customer service — the kind you sort of thought didn’t exist anymore! Replacing your kitchen cabinets with us couldn’t be easier. There is no measurement required on your part — we’ll come out to your home and take care of that for you. You’ll get a 3D rendering along with our estimate. If you like what you see, we can arrange for a team of professionals to efficiently install your new cabinetry, with a minimum of impact on your household.

No matter what your reason is for replacing your kitchen cabinets, our team is here to help.
